Since 2010 ChiavassaDesign has been working on a concept called Berliner Fenster (Berlin’s Windows) which entails the repurposing of windows from classical Berlin buildings into new pieces of furniture. The designer reclaims original windows and doors from Berlin’s old buildings to build creative interiors. For energy efficiency in Berlin, new windows currently replace the hundred years old windows made of noble wood. The old ones are considered to be worthless and waste. Every new piece of furniture becomes a unique body of history.
